You Never Know…

Yesterday morning we had a great second session of Men's Fraternity. We talked about the Four Faces of Manhood. One of the passions in my life is to help men (myself included) become all that God had designed and planed for them to be. Men's Fraternity is my committment to help equip/encourge/inspire men to think with the end in mind so that we can Finish Strong. I want to encourage any of the men to come and hang out with us every chance you can at 6:15 am twice a month at the new IHOP on Delaware near Hertel Ave – we finish up around 7:30 so everybody can get on there way. The Theme for this year is the Quest for Authentic Manhood. I will post the dates when I have them in front of me.

You never know who God will bring across your path. That is one of the great adventures of the Christian walk. I got to meet and spend time with a great Pastor and his wife Ron and Lydia Moore after MF from the West side of Buffalo. I was so blessed – inspired – humbled – convicted by what I heard. This Pastor and his sweet wife have been ministering to the people nobody else wants to reach. To hear their story and to hear what they deal with on an everyday basis just blew me away. In the elementary school in their neighborhood there are 45 different nationalities represented. Most everybody they minister to are in great need. They do what they can but they have to work to help support themselves and the church. What was cool was that Lydia visited Elmwood two Sunday's ago before their church service started and she said that it was such a blessing to walk in and be served without having to serve for a change. You never know who is walking through those doors on a Sunday morning. As we continue to ask God to lead us and guide us to partner with other churches and ministries to reach this community we have to be willing to respond in deeds not just in theory. It won't always make sense, or be nice and easy, it may be really messy, dirty, hard, dangerous but if we really our going to take ownership for the LOSTNESS of our community we have to be willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus not just his voice.

Then to top the day off we had a great time at our first Elmwood Family Night at the Buffalo Christian Center. We had some great food – curry lamb – and great conversation. The kids had a great time swimming – skating – putt-putt and just running around. Look forward to doing it again in November!

Hey just a reminder for those who have middle-school kids we are launching our MS Home Group next week. We will be meeting at Andy and Janelle 2cotlee (not how you spell it but how you say it!) It will meet from 6:00 – 8:00 – we will have pizza and wings for the kids next week – we will have a handout with some info on Sunday!
