Who Do You Say he Is?

We had another great day at Renovation and I never get tired of saying it or experiencing it.

The reality of seeing people who were addicted coming out of those chains, or marriages that should crash and burn because so much bad baggage but some how leaning toward redemption, or seeing a 15 year old taking the metro from the westside to get to church by 7.00 in the morning to go to Acquire the Fire in Jersey with 30 of our students and adult leaders… the stories are endless and I get a front row seat watching God do amazing thins in little ways!

Today we asked the question “who do you say Jesus is?”

Many of you were asking where I got some of the verses and facts from today’s message so here are some of those notes and some great resources for your own personal development…

Josh McDowell is a great resource… he has been helping students and parents develop a theological base line for years. All of his books are great. I got a lot of my material that I used to day from his book Beyond Belief to Convictions.

Prophesied in the OT/confirmed in the NT

I will cause him to be born as an Israelite, a descendant of a guy named Abraham. Genesis 22:18, Galatians 3:18

He will be a descendent from Abrahams son Isaac. Genesis 21:12, Luke 3:23-34

He will be a descendent from Isaac’s son Jacob and from is son Judah’s tribe. Genesis 49:10, Luke 3:23-33

God can you still narrow the focus a little bit… there is still a lot of people living down here?

He will be born through the line of Jesse’s youngest son, David. Jeremiah 23:5, Luke 3:23-32

Oh and he will be born in Bethlehem, a tiny town in Judah. Micah 5:2, Matt 2:1

He will have a messenger that will announce his coming and prepare the way. Isaiah 40:3, Matt 3:1,2

He will begin his ministry in Galilee. Isaiah 9:1,Matt 4:12-17

He will teach in parables. Ps 78:2, Matt 13:34-35

He will perform many miracles. Isaiah 35:5-6, Matt 9:35

Oh yea and he will…

One day ride into Jerusalem on a donkey! Zechariah 9:9, Matt 21:2

He will appear suddenly and forcefully in the Temple courts and zealously clean house. Ps 69:9, John 2:15-16
