What Makes Me Glad?
It's Tuesday afternoon and summer has defintely set in at the Cockrell house! When does school start back? No – I love summer and the chance to hang more with the fam – I don't think you can fully appreciate a hot summer until you have experienced a cold winter. How is it though that in the heat of the summer you can't remember what 23 below windchill feels like and in the winter when the wind chill is 23 below you can't remember what 87 high humidity feels like?!
I am having our intern Sean Cronin call all of our students, 7th grade on up and invite them to a "last minute" get together over at Andy and Janelle Toukatly's house this Friday night. This will allow everybody to meet them and then also get all of the 411 out to the students about they will be doing and it will be a chance for students to get to meet and begin to establish some relationships. We will have more info for everbody this Sunday! I love that we are already pulling some students together and getting to know them.
This past week I talked a little about our iRULES – remember what they are? inVESTing – building relational bridges in our circle of influence and inVITing – so that those relational bridges are strong enough to bear the weight of the life changing message of Jesus Christ as we invite them into a relationship with HIM!
What VALUE is the hardest to keep near and dear? GOD – TRUTH – LOVE – MISSION – Values as we have said will dictate our activities. Where you spend your time – energy – passion – money – is what we value. I have to admitt that even as a pastor I can score low on all 4 – that is why we need each other. If I haven't told you yet – many times I don't feel the most qualified – but I know I have been called and God is more interested in the availability than the ability – which makes me glad
