Week 9 of Renovation Project

Today was week 9 of our series Renovation Project… becoming God’s best version of me!

It has been an amazing 9 weeks and with 3 weeks left I am blown away at what God has done and what I believe is wanting/desiring to do in the weeks to come in all of our lives.

We did worship in the round today and it was great. I love the feeling of being a part of the worship which having the band down in the middle of us allows to happen. The energy in the aud especially at 9.19 was tight! Looking around and seeing so many engaged in the corporate singing to our God is powerful. We are still developing an appetite for worship both in singing and in hearing and learning at Renovation.

One thing that continues to just blow me away is the new faces that we continue to see and the returning faces. Hearing stories of how people are getting connected to Renovation is also something I never get tired of hearing.

So many things to be thankful about… not just with what is happening on Sunday’s bit throughout the week.

Yesterday Patrick (Facilities Director) recruited a handful of volunteers and they worked from 10.00 – 5.00 painting up in the XCEL Center – finishing up the tedious work of painting the radiators. It looks great – so thanks to all of you who helped!

XCEL had their first field trip this week… 20 kids and workers went out to a great place to explore out in Lancaster called Broadway Hope.

We are going to be doing something a little different this Christmas than we have the past two years. We love Pastor Eric Johns and what he is doing with Boxes of Love but this year we are going to be creating a Christmas Store specifically for the kids and families of XCEL. The Chapel is partnering with us to purchase new gifts that will be sold at a very discounted price (around 10% of the original price). Kids will be able to earn vouchers through active participation at XCEL and at school… good grades and good conduct can earn “XCEL money” for the store. They can also earn money by doing extra things around XCEL. What we are wanting to create is a sense of ownership for the kids and families who may be limited by their finances but are learning and willing to put some sweat equity into their Christmas gifts. This is a model of empowerment that has happened around the country. It provides dignity and respect for those who are willing to do something for themselves.

One of the principles that we have learned from Dr John Perkins through CCDA is “don’t do for others what they can do for themselves.” This is a way for us to do that in our community.

The Bill’s finally got one this week! Don’t forget our tailgate party in the basement next Sunday…should be awesome!

Let’s jump into the deep end with God this week in and through our prayer!
