Take the Challenge!

As we start a new year I would like to challenge you Renovation to join with me in reading through the Bible this year. I have not read thru the complete Bible in a couple of years so I am going to do that again in 2011 but with  twist. I am going to read thru it chronologically. I have never done it this way before… the Bible is not laid out in chronological order but there are some Bibles that are or you can use an awesome resource that I have been using for a while now called YouVersion

Youversion is a great resource to have to help you grow in your understanding of God’s Word and in developing the spiritual discipline of reading God’s Word on a daily basis. They have a lot of different reading plans that you can sign up for and then it keeps track for you where you are. I just got thru using The Essential 100 plan… this was a great plan because it went thru the Bible highlighting key portions in 100 days.

I know it seems like a daunting task to read thru the Bible in a year but you can do it. At the end of the year you will have gained such a deeper grasp and perspective of God’s Word and you will know that you have accomplished something of great significance that most Christians never accomplish.

Find a plan… pick a good translation – I use the NLT a lot in my daily reading… use the apps for your phone… take advantage of dead time to read God’s Word… if you miss a day or 2 just pick up on that day’s reading – when you get some extra time then go back – you will miss some days it happens but don’t let it discourage you – you have an enemy that does NOT want you to read God Word and he will do his very best to distract/discourage/defeat you from doing it.

As we go into this year I am wanting to experience God at work in me/us and through me/us like never before… we will need to ask God for a glorious burden and seek what mountain He wants us to claim and conquer for Him! Come on Renovation… take the challenge you can do it!
