Sunday Night Rewind

Well it was a great Valentine’s Day at Renovation and at the Cockrell house today!

We had a great time this morning as we opened with a little Johnny Cash… Ring of FIre!

We heard an incredible description of the purpose and design of God for marriages… sometimes we forget that it was God that not us that created this incredible relationship… on purpose and for a purpose!

Nick and the Band lead us into a great time of worship… I am so proud and amazed how God is working in and through Nick even at a young age he leads me every week into the presence of our heavenly Father!

Joshua told me that Renovation Station was rockin today… 7 students were leading the worship and drama today… gotta love that!

Speaking of students… Joshua started a small group with about a dozen HS students tonight… can’t wait to see how this deeper level of engagement, accountability and discovery.

When we hear how it takes 2 Christian families in today’s generation in order to get one Christian child into the next generation that is sobering and compelling!

We had a great week this past week… a few highlights

  • got to spend sometime with our Councilman Joe Golombek… we were talking about how we at Renovation can help be a catalyst for significant change in our community in many different ways… Joe is from NW BUffalo so he is a great advocate for the community!
  • had another strong night for our JV/Varsity students down in the basement… we had 3 new adult leaders which is HUGE!
  • got to spend Thursday morning hanging out with some other pastors in our city… love hearing all that God is doing in other churches… both the good and the bad… God is doing some incredible things throughout the Buffalo/Niagra region… we need to be in great prayer for Niagra Falls… it is a dark city spiritually and desperately needs the light of the Gospel to shine brightly in it!
  • later on Thursday evening we hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at our offices. We have agreed to allow the Black Rock Canal Project use office space in the Renovation House. This is a grass-roots initiative birthed out of the St Florian Block club. It is a great project that will really enhance the NW community and we get to help!

I am a huge Olympic fan… so there will be many late nights in the next week or two!

Go Ohno!

Gloria and I had a very nice Valentine dinner together… I am a lucky man!
