Sunday Night Rewind

Last Sunday we did a little experiment at Renovation… we had been kickin it around for a few months and so we decided to go for it last week.

If a volunteer did it… it didn’t get done.

No coffee

No snacks

No Greeters

No Band

No Sound Tech

No Lights

No Video

It was just Nick playing his keyboard and me running sound and then he would come back to run the sound as got up to speak.

It was pretty funny to watch people walk in and look around.. are we having church some asked… no coffee so we must not be doing church I think some thought…

The point was not to not have those things but to show everybody just what it takes for us to create a great environment for people to come to every week.

My hope is that we would be a church that 20% of the people did NOT do 80% of the work. We are still creating a culture at Renovation that is going to set the foundation for what we are going to be over the next decade. 2020 is really strong in my heart and mind. What we do in 2010 will make a difference in 2020.

I am an old coach and there is a part of me that still sees life through the eyes of a coach.

I always was a coach that thought everybody on the team was important…even the 12th man… if he was going ot be on the team I wanted him to give his best and to become as good as he possible could…which is what I want for everybody that is a part of Renovation. Everybody matters and it is going to take every man, woman and child to reach every man, woman and child!

I know we had several people move from the bleachers to joining the team this week!

It was a great morning even though we were bare bones… it made me appreciate even more all the good people who make Renovation a great place to be and to be a part of.

It was great to have people working hard early this morning getting ready for our 2 gatherings… it was so quite last week.. I love hearing the band rehearse, seeing the First Impressions Team working to get everything ready… it gets me pumped every week.

Nick and the band rocked worship today… it was really good… we finished up our Walk Across the Room by talking about how to share God’s story and our grace story in a clear, concise way… I think it was new for some and a great reminder for others!

Will be praying for those who will be inviting someone this week to come and hang out with us at Renovation for Easter!
