Sunday Night Rewind

I love true Buffalonians because they are tough…what’s a little snow and cold?!

This morning was one of those mornings that your not sure how many may show up and could show up but we actually had a pretty good turnout and we also had a great time looking deeper at the incredible story of Abraham. When you stop and walk through his story instead of run through it you really see how incredible God is and how faithful Abraham was.

I had a great conversation with one of our new cafe team members today… he told me that his daughter was the one who brought him to Renovation back in April. He said he had never really gotten anything at church before he showed up at RC… he is in his mid-fifties and I asked him what was it that made him come back and he said everything! The greeters at the doors… the cafe… the community and conversations around the tables… the worship… teaching of God’s Word… he told me after that first visit he hasn’t missed a Sunday! Today he was training to be a coffee brewer… willing to do for others what others did for him… that is what we call a win!

After the 11.00 gathering a young lady came up to me and introduced herself… she told me that she had moved from Congo, Africa last year and had arrived in Buffalo not knowing anybody or anything about Buffalo. She told me that she could really understand how Abraham must have felt like when he left all that he knew for a new home land. This young lady is a Christ follower but told me that since she has been in America she does not feel God like she used to in Africa. I asked her if she had any support system like friends or family and she said no… she lives in an apartment in BlackRock… she found Renovation by walking by it one day and decided to come one Sunday a few weeks ago… crazy right? I introduced her to a few folks and I told her that one way that we feel God’s pleasure and presence is in the presence of others who care about us… my prayer is that because of the people who make up Renovation and their love for others like this young lady that in the days and weeks to come she will begin to feel God again!

I heard that our Orange Leadership Training for all of our Renovation Station Team members was awesome even on a nasty day like today we had a basement full of new and “old” leaders. I walked in to pick up Carlee and I saw a ton of new faces… that just blows me away how God is working in the heart of so many at Renovation who are willing to invest their time/talent/treasures for the glory of God!

I am in day 8 of the Daniel Fast and I was encouraged that there were several others who told me they were also on it… we compared some notes and encouraged each other!

Lets keep praying for Feb 6 and the weeks that will follow… I know that there are hundreds of stories like Luis and Kayle still to be told all over our community!
