Sunday Night Reflections

This is a new Sunday night reflection for me. Today because the fam is taking some time off for a funcation in NC I was not at Elmwood for the first time since we launched and it was really weird and I missed everybody and everything that happens at our Sunday Gatherings.

We went and visited Port City Community Church www.portcitychurch.org  which started 7 years ago in a middle school. They now have 3 services at the school and have launched a new campus at a theater a few miles away. It was really cool to see how they do "church" in a theater. They have two services both of which were packed out at 8:15 and 9:45. Their set up crew gets there at 6:00 am. We are so blessed to be able to store a lot of our things at the Regal – thanks Al Rabin! in which they are not able to store so everything has to be loaded up and taken out every week!Cry  God is doing an amazing thing through this church as they try to reach the community of Wilmington with the life changing message of Jesus Christ.!

I must say that I heard the Convoy of Hope was a HUGE success and that everybody really did an amazing job. Thanks to everybody who volunteered their time and energy to bless hundreds of people. Josh, Tina, Sherri, Paul, Dennis, Marty… are just a few of the names I heard that really worked overtime to make it what it was. I want to thank Earl for doing a tremendous job of overseeing- planning- stressing over this whole operation as related to the children's area. He spent a ton of his own time and energy to make something really significant and special happen on Saturday. To all of you who participated in any way – shape – or form THANK YOU!Laughing

Finally, I heard today went great! So proud of the team that God has assembled – every person – young or old that is a part of a Special Team I consider you "staff." I heard that the worship was great and Nick said everybody was really intensly engaging in worship which really made me homesick.  We are  so blessed to be able to experience worship through music as we do, God thank You!  We had a bunch of people today which blows me away in the middle of August – 278 total. That means that we really are taking to heart our iRULES -inVEST and inVITE – wat to go Elmwood!

Finally Part II – Everybody who signed up to get "INVOLVED" should be hearing from somebody this week to start getting plugged in and trained so that we are ready for our new guest that God is going to allow us to inVEST in this fall. We can't shut the doors in KW because of a lack of loving adult volunteers so we need you. If you call Elmwood home whether you have been there 3 weeks or a wopping three months we need everybody to get INVOLVED, you really don't know what you are missing. What may start as an obligation to help often turns into a passion that never dies out because of what you experience through serving which is at the heart of one of our IV values – LOVE
