Sunday and the Week Rewind!

I have to occasionally say this as much for me as for anybody… one of the reasons I blog is to journal about the journey that I am on so that one day if needed i can or my family or others can look back and read about the incredible things God did in us and through us.

It has been a very busy fall for all of the leadership team at Renovation. In ministry i have learned that there are times where it is all hands on deck until the work gets done. We have all been living that reality for the last 7-8 weeks. I want to always guard the time, energy, work that the staff invest. I am not willing to sacrifice the marriages and families of our staff in order to get things done. Sometimes people might get upset because we won’t do some thing that is actually really good but because it my effect some or all of our staff in a way that is never seen publically so I make the unpopular call to say no but I know it’s the healthy call for the staff.

Sometimes people think that working on a church staff may have a bit more glamor than it really does… don’t get me wrong I love it and I believe our entire crew loves it but to a person (at the beginning) they are always shocked at the pace and the amount of work that has to get done every week.

God has blessed us with an awesome campus but it is nearly a 100 yrs old and so things wear out and break and need fixing… of course it’s never a good time to have a leak from the roof or in the basement… we have over 300 light bulbs of some particular size… we still haven’t figured out how to change all of them (some really high ones)… of course all the bathrooms need cleaning… I think :) the grass needs mowing the trash needs to be emptied… the carpet needs vacuuming… the thing I love about our crew is that there is nothing they are not willing to do… we have all cleaned toilets and a dozen other exotic things most people don’t think you do in “ministry.”

I think it is important as a team to work hard together and to play and laugh together… which we do really well!:)

The payoff for all of us is to see the life-change in so many peoples lives… to celebrate the wins every Monday morning… to hear the painful stories of teens, single moms, homeless, addicted, delivered… and to know we all play a role in the redemptive mission of Christ.

I was so proud of the team today… I was able to just sit back and watch them do their deal in a great way! I got a chance to go visit the Lockport campus of the Chapel during the 9.19 gathering – very cool to see what God is doing there in Lockport and the team of volunteers under the direction of Matt Eisenhower and DonnaDay Chapman!

I came back to RC the aud was packed and Scott was sharing and praying and then to hear Joshua give his first message was awesome… he did a great job!

XCEL is off to a great start… Computers for Children is going to be partnering with us which will be a great addition to XCEL along with a great GED program that will be starting in November… young adults in the morning and older adults in the evening!

God is certainly doing some amazing things in so many ways… so thankful to be able to see and experience it with people I love!
