New Experiences
This week has been a little crazy. Both Carlee and Caleb are experiencing their first Sports Camp environment. Carlee is going to Kenmore West girls basketball camp and Caleb is going to Jim Kelley's Football Camp of course it is a new threshold of many things they are working through – pain, frustration with teammates, exhaustion, not being able to do what is being asked of them to do, not performing up to their desires… I remember those days long long ago. As a dad I hurt for them, get mad for them, sympathize with them but ultimately they have to walk through it and once they do they will be stronger, wiser, and hopefully better for going through the experience.
Isn't that what happens to us as we begin a journey as a Christ Follower. Our heavenly Father must at times go through all of those same emotions (since He created them) toward us. It motivates me to be a compassionate Father and a grateful son. Sometimes God knows that we are just going to have to go "through it" in order to become who He has designed us to be and to do. Not always fun, fair, exciting but neccessary.
