Monday Night Rewind
We made it through week 3 of our FireProof Your Marriage series.
We have not really used anything from the actual movie but we have just used the title as a launching pad for our own weekly discoveries…
As a quick rewind… we heard from Mark Gungor week 1 on His Brain/Her Brain and the differences between the two… the “Nothing Box” was worth the entire morning! we heard a powerful message from Voddie Baucham on the Purpose and Design of Marriage… God created marriage on purpose and for a purpose!
Yesterday we talked more about the design of marriage or the blueprint that Scripture lays out for us using 1 Peter 3.7 as our key passage to unpack… hey husbands there is a lot at stake for us to get this stuff right!
We had our staff meeting this morning and we talked for an hour about some of the wins that we observed yesterday and the pat week…
We had close to 90 kids at Renovation Station just at 9.19!
We had 10 first time families that allowed us to invest into their children… huge WIN!
We had all of the Single Again flyers taken… so appreciate Rick and Sue starting this group and so thankful to Ellen for being so open to sharing her story with us on video… powerful story for sure.
We had 48 FIRST TIME GUEST with us between adults and kids just yesterday! That is CRAZY!
God just continues to BLOW me away by what He is doing in and through the hearts of men and women at Renovation.
Please be in prayer for our first Community Action meeting Tuesday evening… this is our first attempt to create an experience that allows us to set up a dialog with those in the community… we are wanting to learn… listen… understand what the core felt needs are and at some point down the road develop a community plan that helps us move toward a solution for these needs. Anybody is welcome to come… we will be talking specifically about children’s programs and after-school resources at this first meeting.
We are having a lunch Thursday for Churches within our NW community as we get ready to lay out plans for our 2nd Riverside Family Fun Day, July 17… I can feel the heat already… it will be here before we know it!

Finally… I loved what I saw after the 11.00 gathering… I was observing conversations… everywhere! When we first started Elmwood I remember that five minutes after I said “Amen, have a great week” the place was a ghost town. When we left the theater to head over to St Florian that was not the case. At some point after about a year we noticed that there were conversations happening in the atrium… all over the place. Relationships had finally been built so that people were excited to see each other and were talking to each other.
Relationships takes time and work… when we shifted from Elmwood to Renovation we had to re-establish relationships… make new friends… get comfortable… that all takes time. We have been “dating” each other for over a year now and we are beginning to become truly a community of faith and fellowship… amazing… a definite God thing! I am grateful!
