Looking Back on 2010 pt 1

It’s the last day of 2010 and I thought it would be good to look back at what we experienced and discovered this past year. One of the core beliefs that we want to build upon at RC is that God is always at work in and around us. We need to remember that our perspective needs to be not only individually/family  but as a community. Yes God loves me but He also loves the world and everyone in it just as much. So with that in mind lets look back at what God did in us and through us this past year and see how we are doing in the process of renewing our hearts and minds and becoming God’s best version of us!

Map Quest/January

God does not give His direction for our consideration and or contemplation but for our PARTICIPATION.

proverbs 3.5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

proverbs 28.26

He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be DELIVERED.

Remember what we said…

The more familiar you become with the PROVIDENTIAL will of God and the more obedient/surrendered you become to the MORAL will of God the easier it will be for you to discover the PERSONAL will of God.

*note: this is a tough one to swallow but when we step into this with our lives God will always prove faithful and we will find ourselves less in the ditch’s of life!

Fireproof/Feb

How are we doing with the core ingredients that are in every good marriage?

Husbands are you being the servant-leader Christ calls you to be?

Wives are you being the servant-lover Christ calls you to be?

*note: we will be revisiting some of these issues in our series in Feb called modern family – simple truth but hard to live out!

Walk Across the Room/March

Are we thinking with others in mind?

Are we looking for opportunities to move from our circles of comfort to the Zones of the unknown?

Luke 19.10

For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost

*note: we finished this series on Easter Sunday where we had over 700 people attend and we gave a clear presentation of the Gospel and we know that many came to Jesus Christ that day… can’t wait to see what happens this Easter!

The Battle Within/April/May

Guilt says, ‘I owe you,’ so the solution is confession

Jealousy says, ‘God owes me,’ so the solution is to celebrate the one we are jealous toward.

Greed says, ‘I owe me,’ so the solution is to be generous with your time talent treasure.

Anger says, ‘You owe me.’ So the solution is to forgive.

Matthew 15:18-19                                                                                                                      But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these defile you. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

Proverbs 4:23                                                                                                                        Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

*note: the battle within is a constant struggle that we have to be willing to fight everyday… not on our own but with Christ living within us!

The Power of One/June

Don’t Waste Your life…

Life & Death are given to you so that you may display the Supreme Worth & Value of Jesus Christ… by TREASURING Him… satisfied in Him above all others &

the way you display the supreme worth and value of Christ is above all other things and people… the proof is found in how much we are willing to RISK and SACRIFICE for Him.

Matthew 22:37- 39

37Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

ORDER MATTERS

Finding the One / Finding your Two/   The most important criterion for a marriage candidate is a commitment to Christ.

Luke 11:17

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.

If your Two doesn’t share your greatest treasure than their heart will be elsewhere and the power of One will be lost.

*note: we covered a lot of ground in this series but only scratched the surface of living as a single person for the glory and purpose of God.

This was the first half of 2010 and in between the Sundays of course were the days that we have to live these truths out either in the positive or the negative. I will finish the 2nd half in the next post.
