Last Night of Summer

Can you believe it?

The last night of summer… at least for the Cockrell crew! We closed out our summer on Lake Ontario with some friends and then we came home and made our annual trek down to the corner DQ with our neighbors celebrating a great summer!

It was the fastest summer in the history of humanity but it was a great.

From the awesome weather to our incredible Summer Jam, to our family trip to Florida and all the parties, hotdogs, burgers… it was fantastic and of course all good things must come to an end!

A new chapter starts for our crew tomorrow… all three are starting in new schools… Carlee starts highschool which scares me to death and makes me want to cry… Caleb starts middle school (6th) and Canon goes into 2nd. Everybody is excited (and a little anxious)!

We had a great day @ RC yesterday.

It was great to see some faces I hadn’t seen in a few weeks!

Here is a great story of an RC All Star… one of our Renovation ladies who gave her heart to Christ last year told me this yesterday – we will call her “Carol” so Carol had not been to church much this summer, she had gone through our Starting Point last year and her group was a little worried because her phone wasn’t working and and she kinda dropped off the radar screen… so Carol tells me that this week she sees this little red car driving slowly down her street, she was a little worried when the window started to come down and was going to go inside when all of the sudden her friend from Renovation and who she had gotten really close with during Starting Point yelled out to her… girl where have you been, i better see you back at church Sunday! Guess what? Carol was back!

That is what I call a RC All Star!

How easy is it for us to get discouraged, to miss a week or two or three and then feel like nobody cares or you feel guilty and so people decide not to re-engage… @ Renovation you are always welcomed back!

This is another reason why it is so important to get connected relationally beyond a Sunday Gathering… we need a deeper way to be loved and to love and that happens best in grouplife!

It was great seeing so many first time guest and getting to have some great conversations with folks who are really taking some great “next best steps!”

I pray that everyone had a great Labor Day Holiday!
