Labor Day Weekend #2

This was our 2nd Labor Day weekend that we have experienced since Elmwood launched April 07 and i must say it was our BEST EVER! Of course when I look back at where we were just 12 months ago as a Community of Faith (just a few months old) and I see what God has in us individually and corporately and what He has done through us – it blows me away!

Sunday was such a mile maker for me personally – I got to tag team a message with my dad (who planted a church 38 years ago this past June) which was a HUGE thrill and honor – We tackled a subject that the enemy does NOT want us to tackle because he knows if we ever “get it” we will never be the same and that is OWNERSHIP – who really owns our stuff – God or me? We had 399 on a the last holiday before school – a ton of first time guest – tat is just crazy! We all got to go over and walk through our new “digs” at St Florian and when we showed up the the St Florian/Povian Block Club had set up a tent – made fresh goodies (did I just say goodies?…) coffee/drinks with a sign that said “Welcome to the Neighborhood” now that is off the hook!

It was such an incredible experience for me to watch everybody with their kids and family, the parking lot packed (we will have to learn how to park) the place buzzing with activity – hearing everybody talking about God’s blessing and provision for us… WOW – God you are truly amazing. I can’t wait to get in and start working on the building – can’t imagine the night before our first gathering… I will be so jacked!

Hey I hope that many of us really allowed God through His Holy Spirit to really speak deep into our hearts/minds about the issue of ownership – will we as a church be marginalized because of a lack of faith and a lack of obedience? I pray that we will be a community of faith that resembles the heart and spirit of the first century church – radical – radical followers of Christ – radical in their generosity – radical in loving people away from Hell!

Father God – thank you for allowing us to experience days like Sunday – may we have many more for Your Honor – Your Fame – and for our great benefit!
