Kingdom Activity

Sometimes we talk about things in our lives that we are hopeful for even though we maybe have not seen those things are maybe we have seen just glimpses. As I think back on what Dr Martin Luther King JR. did in his life and the impact he had on an entire nation it is pretty amazing. He certainly did not see all that he dreamed about or thought could happen before his tragic death but he still cast a vision for this country, black and white how it could be and should be. By no means have we arrived but things are much different. When I talk to my kids about the reality of an African American boy or girl just 40 years ago (when I was a boy ooch) and the life that was theirs and the injustice that they had to live in and through they can't even imagine. It is hard to reflect back on those days today and think that just a "few" years ago that America allowed what we did. I know in every generation we will face unique crisis that are extremely difficult but I thank God that He used one man to change the tide in America, it was I think Kingdom activity.

This past year I have been hearing and talking about Kingdom activity and what that might look like in Buffalo, NY. Today I got to hang out with my pastor, Jerry Gillis and another young pastor at LaFayette Presbyterian Church in the Elmwood Village, Drew Ludwig. Drew has been at LaFayette since this past May. It was great to walk around and hear what they are doing and are wanting to do to serve the community of Elmwood, to really be the hands and feet of Jesus. They are doing some great things and you can check them out at www.elmwoodjesus.org  I love that we can identify another Kingdom partner that is trying to reach every man woman and child with repeated opportunities to hear and see, Jesus in their circle of accountability. I know on a Sunday morning that right down Elmwood Ave there is another expression of Christ's Church doing Kingdom things, being people that allows Kingdom Activity to happen. We talked briefly about the possibilities of partnering together this summer to serve the Elmwood Village community – that would be sweet, baby! (listening to Dick Vitale to much)
