John Perkins Is Coming!
Wednesday’s are always long but always rewarding because I facilitate 2 Men’s Fraternity groups… one in the morning and the other in the evening. I never grow tired of seeing the Holy Spirit grab a hold of mens hearts/minds/lives!
I gotta admit though I hate going our at 5.45 am when the wind chill is 20 below like it was this morning!
Had a chance to meet with 2 local church planters after MF… Sean and Jeremy are going to be used in a great way to launch a new community of faith in the Elmwood Village… for now they are calling it the Buffalo Project. Sean worked with us at Renovation off and on through college and Seminary now he is ready to go full-time as he does what he told me he wanted to do the first time I asked him… plant churches!
I know God is going to use some folks that have been a part of Renovation to help launch this new expression. I love that we have already been able to launch folks into ministry and helping plant now 5 new churches… that’s how it is supposed to be, right?!
After that meeting I went over to the Buffalo Christian Center to help be a part of the planning committee for the Regional CCDA Conference coming April 29, 30. I am so excited about this opportunity for many people in Buffalo to be exposed to this group of awesome leaders and doers that serve the poor and marginalized bringing healing and restoration into communities that most people have given up on.
The leader of this movement has been Dr. John Perkins. I am so thankful to have been able to be exposed to this incredible man of God who in his 80 years has had as great an impact as any other leader but most American Evangelicals have never heard of him. Well we get a chance and probably our last chance to have him visit Buffalo and speak to us and allow him to infect us with his heart and passion for serving our city!
