It’s Official!
Well it looks like the Holiday Season has officially started. Everywhere you look you see and hear the sights and sounds. I have always loved this part of the year. Growing up in Kansas City we would have 4 seasons and you could smell the different seasons. When we moved down to Tampa I really missed that part – the smells, when we moved to Buffalo 6 years ago I got all of those smells back – what a gift!
We have several things cooking right now that I want everyone to be aware of:
- This Friday night Gloria is hosting an Open House for all the LADIES of Elmwood! This is a ‘drop by and stay as long as you can’ party from 7:00-9:00pm. The Cockrell boys will be having a night out on the town!
- We went over and met with some of the great staff at True Bethel on E Ferry today in order to get all of the details concerning their Thanksgiving Dinner Drive. We will be helping in a couple of ways:
1. They will be needing help giving away the Thanksgiving Dinner Packages on Monday from 9:30 – 2:00pm. You can just show up at the Church and go through the Subway entrance and just tell the workers there why you are there and they will get you to the right place!
2. They will also be serving a Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday for those in the community from 10:00 – 2:00pm. They will take any extra desserts that you might want to bring with you to serve that day. If you would like to come during those times you can help serve the food and help keep everything cleaned. You may also go through the same Subway entrance.
3. The biggest item to purchase is of course the turkeys. They have about 40 turkeys so far but need around 160 more. If anybody has a connection to getting donated or priced reduced turkeys please give us a call at the office ASAP!
4. They will be putting together an entire dinner with all the ‘fix’ins’ included for each family that comes. They have aprox. 200 families they have identified in need.
We will be taking a special Thanksgiving Offering this Sunday that will be above and beyond our normal offering. So please be in prayer for what God would have you give toward this opportunity to partner with another Church that is doing some incredibly great things in the tough East Side that God has them in the middle of!
