It’s Hard to Drink From a Fire Hydrant!

It is hard to drink from a fire hydrant but I tried today!

I love walking into a circle of influence that is new to me. That is what we have done coming to the CCDA Conference in Miami. Every session has been worth the trip. What I love is that it is all being framed in a Biblical context and from Scripture.

Here are a few high-lights from this morning and afternoon:

  • Shalom is where nothing is missing and nothing is broken!
  • Until you attend to that which is broken and that which is missing you cannot gain Shalom – you can have a sense or an illusion of peace but it is false.
  • God really shines great when things are broken and missing
  • 2 Cor 1:8-10 8We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,

  • It Ain’t easy but it can happen!
  • Matthew 22:36-39 Loving God and People – not one or the other
  • James   1:27 Loving God and the unprotected!
  • Micah 6:8 Doing justice – love mercy – walk humbly is the action of the Church

  • BUT as we go and do – let us make sure we do not lose our FIRST LOVE!
  •  Charisma with out Character is Catastrophic!
  • BIG is not necessarily BETTER! (it isn’t necessarily bad either)
  • SUCCESS without SPIRITUAL DEPTH is (extremely) SUPERFICIAL
  • How is my walk with God today? – is it superficial?
  • It is the spiritual depth issue – ordring our private world – to deepen our Walk with Christ – when our methods/technique/technology/ is what we stand on and NOT God’s power!
  • The solitude of aloneness with God – be still and quite during your first  few minutes – exposes our real self  - our nothingness is exposed!
  • Our danger is putting CHrist on the MARGINS and not on the main page – the first thing we need to always do is Love Christ first – quality of  walk with Christ is directly related to the quantity of time we spend with Christ.
