It’s Chili Night!

Today was a FULL day! Can’t tell you how grateful I am for all of the people God has brought to us at Elmwood/Renovation! We have so many people with different skills and abilities that are contributing to the renovating of our new digs!

Monday night is chili night for the renovation team – we had a strong crew working when I dropped by tonight! The wallpaper is slowly but surely coming down!

Everybody should and can be a part of the renovations! Everybody ought to make plans on spending at least an evening, a morning, a Saturday being a part of the team. Don’t miss this opportunity to do something – to be a solution – being in the game is so much more enjoyable, transforming, life changing than just watching!

Josh and I got to go down to the lower Westside and hang out at Pastor Alberto Lanzot’s church down on Virginia St. There are a number of us Pastor’s who are trying to address the violence that is happening on the WestSide. Of course I am the rookie at the table – these pastors are the real deal – all have an incredible heart – passion – concern for every man, woman and child in their circle of accountability.

How do you tell a young person to leave the gang they have been in… where they are accepted, taken care of, held accountable, are able to survive… tell them – “hey turn from the streets” – but not have anything tangible for them to turn to. An event is not the answer – long term relationships, being there, helping, caring, mentoring that is what we are facing. BUT who will do that? Who has the time, the energy, the passion to spend time with a young person who has nothing to give back. If the CHURCH – Christ followers don’t/won’t than who will?

29 homicides at last count on the WestSide so far this year. The WestSide is not that big – that is not counting the kids, teens adults that have been shot at or injured by drive-by violence.

Pastor’s Angel, Jose, Alberto, Danny, are incredible men who are doing some great things and we get a chance to help them – partner with them, pray with them – serve them. Please be praying for all of these men – their families – lives – churches!

On another note – the Bills really stunk it up!

Always next game!
