Here’s A Question For You

I am sitting in one of my favorite spots in the city on the Westside called Sweetness 7, a great little cafe that makes great oates with lots of fruit and nuts… which I love because well if you have been following me you know that I am on day 5 of a Daniel Fast!

It is so cool to hear reports of people who are also doing the fast… I must admit that I am feeling really good on day 5… you don’t realize what you put into your body until you determine to check everything at the “door” before letting it come inside. I am eating a lot of fruit both dried and fresh, nuts, salads and of course lots of water!

My prayer has been that God would lead us at Renovation into a deeper commitment/understanding/surrendering/sacrificing walk with Him this year and how that might make where we live/work/play/learn different.

I got to talk with a dude last night @ Men’s Fraternity and he was telling me he and his wife’s journey to get to Renovation… he lives just a block or 2 away and I was really excited to hear that another West Hertel resident was calling Renovation home… God has birthed RC where it is at – on purpose – to help bring restoration to the neighborhood. But God has also planted each one of us where we are on purpose to help cooperate with the Holy Spirit to bring restoration to “our place.”

Here is a question for you… Can a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ or a collection of them in a concentrated area live very long and not have any real impact on making that “community” (block/office/classroom/home…) a better place. When people of the Way live sacrificially, give generously, connect relationally is there any chance that restoration won’t happen… it may take a while, a long while but if we are committed and faithful then “up there comes down here” and God is glorified and many are blessed!
