Chili Cookoff!
Michelle Stockton organized a great party for all the first impression teams tonight (glad we had a pavilion!) with the theme being a Chili Cook-off and I was lucky enough to be a judge! I love chili – it has to be pretty bad for me no to like it – fortunately they were all good!
Can’t tell you how blessed we are as a community of faith that we have a growing group of people who not only talk about being “the church” they actually act on it and Lord willing we will continue to have people join with so many others to do the hard work of loving people to Christ and away from hell!
We had a chance to have a little Q and A and one of the questions was – are we going o change our name?! Of course I think I am getting that question asked me every day from somebody. The answer is yes. We are going to change the name and it is based on mission rather than geography. We are working on the name and the logo presently and we hope to announce it in a couple of weeks but for now I will give you a little hint based out of a passage that the Apostle Paul wrote to the Church at Rome. It is the purpose and desired outcome of everyone who calls themselves Christ Followers – it is what Christ wants for us and from us.
Romans 12:1,2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is true worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.
