Checking Out Washington DC!

I am in Washington DC with my family for a few days! I love coming down here – the history of this city is overwhelming and the power that this city represents is amazing. I am actually going to a conference for a couple of days called the BUZZ conference hosted by National Community Church www.theaterchurch.com whose pastor is Mark Batterson www.evotional.com . Mark is the author of In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day which is a great book about playing offense with your life – chasing the lions that God has for us. Mark was our guest speaker at our last Men's Breakfast in May and he was great. Looking forward to hearing what God is doing in other places around the country.

Today I will be a part of a preconference gathering of other pastors doing "church in a theater" at NCC's coffee house called Ebenezers which is the coolest place! It is the largest coffee house on the hill and it is as good as Starbucks in quality and better than Starbucks in mission! NCC meets in two theaters – one in Union Station where 25,000,000 people pass through every year – now that is what I call being in the marketplace! The hope of gathering together today is to gain some best practices from other theater churches from around the country. Last year I was here and The Chapel at Elmwood was just a dream but not this year. So blown away by what God has done in just one year. My dad has said at times – "sometimes God seems to be moving at a snails pace and then at times He moves with hurricane force" and that has been so true in both ways this past year.

It is hotter than fire here and humid tooCool

 Yell at you later
