4 Years Ago Today…

Well we started a new series today that will lead us right into Easter Sunday called Why Jesus?

As I said this morning many of us need some extra tools in our intellectual/theological toolkit. The majority of people coming to Renovation are fairly new in the relationship with Christ or they come from a limited amount of authentic biblical teaching. So our hope is to give people some solid teaching that will help them personally and to help them as they engage in sharing their grace story and general conversations with friends and family on the topic Jesus.

So we are using a video series that David Nasser created on location in Jerusalem and the surrounding region. It is awesome footage for those of us who have never been to those places.

Speaking of Easter I want to encourage everybody to really pray through and then invite somebody(s) with you to our Easter Celebration. It will be an awesome day to have our family and friends visit with us.

Also speaking of Easter… it was 4 years ago today that we launched the Chapel at Elmwood… Easter Sunday 2007 in the Regal Elmwood Theater! I can’t believe it has been 4 years! What a journey it has been. I would have never ever thought on that Sunday that Elmwood would not even celebrate a 2 yr birthday. That God would move our heart and vision down the street and that we would basically put the dream of Elmwood to death in order to allow a different but an amazing movement to be planted  and birthed called Renovation Church.

I remember how nervous we (me) were about going from 1 gathering at Elmwood to 2 at Renovation. I was amazed to see that 11.00 gathering fill up and then how nervous we (me) were about going from 2 gatherings to 3. Would anybody really want to show up at noon? Well for the 4 time in the last 5 weeks are Noon gathering has been our largest! It’s official… people like to sleep in!

There have been so many incredible stories of faith and redemption…. also stories of tragedy. Life has been happening as we go through this journey God has us on and I am so thankful for my wife and family and the team that I love serving with and doing life with.

My prayer 4 years ago today is the same one I continue to pray for our faith community and city… may God do something so big, so amazing that nobody would ever think one person or group of people could take credit – that only God could be blamed and glorified!

So thank you Father God for all that you have done and all that you continue to do!
