Sunday Night Reflections 08

I am just going to shoot some thoughts that are on my mind from today and this week.

  • The Song that we finished with today is called Tears of the Saints and it is sung by www.Leelandonline.com Leeland. That song has been on me for months – it really speaks to who we are going to be at Elmwood. Jeanin, Nick and the boys did an incredible job singing and playing it!
  • I hope everybody understands that if you are going to call Elmwood home their is just an assumption of participation. To be a healthy family eveybody has to do some "chores" and most of those "chores" can be accomplished by any willing family member!
  • I can't tell you what a thrill, blessing it is to be doing what I get to be doing. I am overwhelmed that God would use me to be just a small part of His Mission
  • God wants to use everbody that calls him Father. I had several guys ask me what I thought that God wanted them to do. I have asked that question myself at different times especially when I didn't feel like my life really mattered all that much. I told each of these guys what was told to me and what I have discovered over the years. It is not the answer they or I wanted to hear but it is true – God wants you to bloom right where you are planted. It might not be a glamorous assignment, it may seem marginal at best but it is where we are and we need to be GREAT ambassadors for Christ. We need to be faithful in the little things, persevere, be kind, loving, forgiving, work hard be the best you can be at whatever your assignment is.
  • I love that we have so many first time guest every week – I don't ever want us to take that for granted. Let's develop a culture of extraordinary love, hospitality, acceptance, kindness that is simply irresistable to the community that God has called us to serve.
  • We had 307 today – we have been really strong and consistant in our attendance in 08!
  • My heart really hurts for many in our community of faith – today we had a dad with us that buried his 25 yr old son yesterday – a mom asked for pray who is 3 months sober – she almost folded this week, thought of the Kinda family, a husband is gone, a dad, a friend in an instant, this life is full of brokeness and pain because of sin, one day though God will say that's it, He will hear that last "yes" and it will be time for Him to make things right again.
  • Jesus tells us to be encouraged, don't lose heart he is preparing a place for us – that is some kind of great news!
